Out of curiosity - did you all watched Madoka in TV or online? |

| On DVD the first time around. First two disks during February 2013, last one in May that year. (I did watch The Rebellion Story online, though, during September '15.) |

Out of curiosity - did you all watched Madoka in TV or online? Neither. I was following the series back in '11. Downloaded the actual episode fan-subbed and watched offline. |

I don't know. I'm in 3 PMMM related groups but none of them have to seem any "community" or anything along the lines. Some people do watch them so I may get some audience with posting my writings but kind of no feedback no nothing. One of the groups seems to struggle to survive and has a contest which I may or may not participate - I'll have an exam next month so I probably won't. |

Do you people think that forums generally go extinct because of Facebook and stuff? My answer is: Yes, but. Longer version: I've read musings about this question and it may be that the crowd has left forums for facebook and the likes but they're not suited for quality discussions or preserving thoughts from the past for the future. They host mostly inconsequential chatting that flows down the river of time. The very crowd that generates this flow of shallow ranting and fanning and hating could be on forums and fill them with the same meaningless fluff. I don't think it's the complete and absolute truth but there's something in it. Forums could be more alive without the distraction of "social media" but some of this life would make them just harder to read, follow and browse through. On the other hand, those who don't like and can't handle FB's style (like me) can sometimes feel quite alone on the 'net. I don't know if it can be helped. I count myself quite asocial anyway. |

| I am antisocial to the core :( Also I don't like FB, it scares me. I wonder if there are some lonely souls wandering around the net in search for fellows to share meaningful thoughts and opinions about our beloved show but they are somehow unable to find us in the ocean of net garbage o.O? Or maybe such people don't exist? A while ago I was searching for any Madoka forum (not purely RP) but I couldn't find anything, beats me if there are such forums and I simply cannot find them? Is our forum even visible (easy to find) on the google or stuff? And how to improve its visibility... |

I don't know about any PMMM related forum. For news I often go to Walpurgischan but that's not a forum either. I'm not even registered there. "The Witch's Labyrinth" is known for Google, btw. This is how I find it when I'm in front of a new browser. Its name is just too complicated to remember it correctly... |

Well, you noticed too that it isn't too lively. I live slow so I'm patient enough to look back here time to time. Some others may have even forgotten the place since its most visited times. |

| Sad! My living rhythm is also pretty slow and I visit the forum everyday but it's condition is deplorable now. Has this forum been forsaken even by the admins??
Probably the idea of meaningful discussion is unattractive for majority of Madoka fans...But I am old-fashioned person, I prefer forums over facebook and likes. |

I find it pretty strange as one of PMMM's strongest points in my eyes is the many ways to interpret things in it, the thoughts it can provoke and inspire. Another one is the characters, of course. But I know that it can catch fans by many other ways. Badassness, visuals, many other things. It's not necessarily a bad thing. But these facets are not necessarily thought provoking. Someone who doesn't (want to) look beyond badassness probably won't end up in a meaningful discussion. |

| I am afraid majority of the fandom is focused on ships and fanservice and 'cute magical girls being badass and/or suffering' - that trope is pretty popular now, probably due to Madoka's popularity.Â
I've watched several 'Madoka rip-off' labeled series but none of them can reach Madoka's level of quality. Magical Girls Raising Project is just a mere survival series with bland plot (it is surprisingly popular); Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero is cute but it lacks creativity (it is also quite popular). But many people don't mind boring plot and lack of good ideas; if you know what I mean - some people are pleased just with the 'cute magical girls being badass and/or suffering' stuff. And this way depth of the plot and creative use of symbols and hidden meanings and other things I'd like to discuss have lost the importance in the eyes of the fandom. Sadly so :( |

| I have an interesting question, though. How do you create a deep plot? I have the characters, an idea of the direction I'm going, and last but not least a set of rules, part set by the original work(s), part I deduced, part I made up so they won't contradict the rules I want to follow. These rules cover a lot of the world and contain my impressions of the characters that I got from the original works or other fan works and I can make a coherent picture of them. The 'made up' part is the change, made, for example, via a collision of worlds. Or something the characters didn't know in canon but fits the world and they learn about it or meet the consequences. Or simply something I see more logical than what happened in canon or in a fan work. Whatever.
Then I set things in motion. The characters react and have goals and plans and desires.
Sometimes I stop for a long time and wait for something that sets something on fire and the flames burn a new path. Just like I stalled with GOSE for like 2 years then Fringe S5 and Rebellion and Cat's cradle arrived, making a whole new path I haven't even thought about. I can say that that time the story changed for the better compared to my original plans. I know because I still have the early drafts of the story.
I often look for ways to shed new light on known facts. I seek ways to distort things. I realized that I often let my twisted sense of humor lead the storyline. But I don't remember that I ever wanted to put a specific meaning behind the scenes. Yes, my characters have strong morals. Yes, I try to show that it's okay to think. They surely do. But deliberately writing 'meaning'? I don't remember.
Ummm... It may belong to some other topic, doesn't it?
[What do you think, Mami?] |

| Cannot help you. When creating a plot I usually write everything that comes to my mind and I am not concerned about making it objectively good plot. |
